From Hosanna to Crucify Him!

In a few short days the crowd has gone from loud shouts of joy and adoration to bloodthirsty chants of crucify him crucify him.

How did this happen?

Why does it continue to happen?

Yes, we continue to be members of that crowd just as humanity since the crucifix has been.  We continue to be influenced by fads, ‘fake new’, rumors, lies and fear, - we are influence by the crowd mentality.

We join crowds that think like us, look like us – where we see ourselves reflected back to us in the faces of the crowd.

It should be no surprise to us when the crowd blames the same people we blame, shares the same truths we hold, protects the same selfish values, norms, social structures and property we do.

And this is how we become trapped within the mob mentality and stop applying the world view of our Lord, our Creator that of unconditional love for all creation.
So we cry Hosanna one day and crucify him the next like everyone else.

Our redemption, our walk through the gate of righteousness is one we do so as individuals.

We come into the world as individuals and we enter the gates of eternity the same way.

We are answerable individually for our faith and the daily expression of that faith.

Our God is not interested in the crowd, it is as individuals we are known to God.  He knows our names, knows the very number of hairs on each of our heads, and loves each of us unconditionally.

We are challenged, no commissioned to reach out as individuals to individuals in service and unconditional love.

To walk through the gates of righteousness knowing who we believe in, in the full knowledge that God loves all of his creation not as a whole, no each individual parts.
