Building on yesterday’s post on enjoying our grand/children and ensuring our children enjoy their time with us, today’s is
the sixth blog post on “Teaching the Joy of Receiving Letters & Writing”:
- October 18th, 2013 we explored guidelines in writing letters to children
- October 23, 2013 to write to children things that we have Notice about them
- November 4th, 2013 we explored letters that convey Gratitude
- November 30, 2013 we discussed writing about our Hopes for our children
- December 16th, 2013 we looked at writing letter that describe how we Cherish them
And today how we enjoy being with them
Following an activity or day of enjoyment with your
grand/children send them a short note thanking them for spending time with
you.
Write about specific activities that you enjoyed.
If you’ve taken pictures write your note on the back of the picture and mail it
to them.
If you are planning an event send your
grandchildren an invitation. Describe
aspects of the event that you are looking forward too and what you believe your
grand/child will enjoy as well.
Writing to grand/children in this way, we model
for them:
- To express gratitude
- To value relationships and to express this in writing
- How relationships are reciprocal – the give and take of relationship that results in each person finding joy.
- To expect to find joy in the future – to plan activities with others that brings them enjoyment.
